About the Komintern - WWII Soviet Support Vehicle:

As is too often the case with logistics vehicles, the Soviet Komintern Artillery Tractor was a vital yet overlooked workhorse. Developed in the 1930s and based on the T-24 tank chassis, the Komintern Artillery Tractor hauled heavy artillery across the harsh terrain of the Soviet steppe. It lacked glamor, but its role was essential.  

Its tracks enabled it to move across snow and mud, lugging medium and heavy guns that were crucial for both defensive and offensive operations. As the Red Army reeled and scrambled in the opening weeks of Operation Barbarossa, this mobility proved essential. Although slow, unprotected, and mechanically complicated, the Komintern Artillery Tractor carried troops and equipment as well, making it a versatile support vehicle. To the Soviet army, the artillery was paramount, and the Komintern Artillery Tractor provided a key contribution in the critical early stages of the war.
