United Bricks - Continental Army Soldier (Revolutionary War)
United Bricks premium printed LEGO® Minifigs.
When war commenced between the American Colonists and the British, the Americans had no effective army. The Continental Army was formed by Congress in June 1775, and George Washington was named its commander in chief. Soldiers in the Continental Army were volunteers; they agreed to serve in the army and standard enlistment periods lasted from one to three years. Early in the war the enlistment periods were short, as the Continental Congress feared the possibility of the Continental Army evolving into a permanent army. Uniforms would vary from colony to colony, but uniform regulations of 1779 standardised what the troops were to wear, although variations persisted.
