About the Ukrainian Su-24MR Fencer E:

The Sukhoi Su-24 “Fencer” is a rugged, low-level strike aircraft built by the Soviet Union to punch through dense air defenses at high speed. Its signature variable-sweep wings and side-by-side two-seat cockpit give it a distinctive profile, while its twin engines and terrain-following radar allow it to roar just meters above the ground on all-weather strike missions. Entering service in the 1970s, the Su-24 can carry a formidable weapons load, such as unguided bombs or precision missiles, making it a versatile tactical bomber. Upgraded Su-24M variants introduced modernized avionics and improved targeting, keeping the aircraft relevant long after its Cold War debut.

When Russia launched its invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Ukraine’s small fleet of Su-24s found itself back in high-intensity combat. Despite limited numbers and the aircraft’s age, they played a key role in the war’s opening phase, striking Russian forces during the battle for Hostomel Airport and supporting defenses around Kyiv. Ukrainian crews flew these missions in extremely dangerous conditions, often without long-range standoff weapons, resulting in several aircraft losses.

Later, Ukraine integrated cruise missiles onto the Su-24, transforming the Fencer into Ukraine’s premier deep-strike platform. With these long-range precision weapons, Ukrainian Su-24s carried out high-profile strikes on Russian logistics hubs, command centers, and infrastructure far behind the front lines. Once a Cold War workhorse, the Su-24 has become a symbol of Ukrainian ingenuity—an aging bomber turned cutting-edge strike aircraft through a combination of technical skill, necessity, and remarkable bravery.

This model is a long-overdue upgrade from our previous 1/35 scale Raptor kit. It has been fully redesigned to take advantage of advances in parts availability, improved techniques, and expanded capabilities of our printing department (this model features all UV-printed parts and no stickers).
