About the A-10A Thunderbolt II™ – Ground Attack Aircraft:

Entering service in 1976 and remaining in use today, the robust and hard-hitting Warthog is built to take and deliver heavy damage. The A-10 made its combat debut in the Gulf War against Iraqi helicopters, missiles, and ground units and served through the 1990s in the Balkans over Bosnia and Kosovo. In the 2000s, Warthogs flew thousands of missions annually in Afghanistan and Iraq.

The Warthog is an airframe designed around a powerful auto-cannon. The 30mm seven-barrel rotary cannon fires 3,900 armor-piercing rounds per minute, or about 70 rounds per second, and can hit a target from 4,000 feet while in flight. Remarkably durable, the aircraft features thick armor, backup mechanics, protected fuel systems, and landing gear—which is offset to make room for the cannon—capable of deployment even if hydraulics fail. Although criticized for its single purpose limitations, the A-10 remains popular, with infantry quipping ‘Go Ugly Early,’ calling for the Hog and its cannon to support ground troops without delay.

A note from Designer Daniel Siskind…

"Hog completed! A-10A Thunderbolt II has finally been handed off to the Production Team!  This model has consumed enormous amounts of my time over the last few weeks and I’m finally satisfied it can go into production. This plane is modeled after tail number 681, a Desert Storm veteran piloted by Captain Paul Johnson during the rescue mission that earned him his Air Force Cross in 1991.

This kit is much more detailed than my previous 2016 A-10 kit and has more than 650 additional pieces, 80 UV printed parts, 16 custom 3D printed parts, and will include a display stand inside the box. Each Brickmania retail store will receive at least two kits on release day. After that it’s gone for good!"
